Below are the services and options you have besides the normal vital signs check of blood pressure and pulse along with body height & weight analysis.
Wearing a respirator may place a burden (increases the work of heart and lungs) on employees that varies with the respirator they use or the work they do. Any employee who is required to use any respirator must be medically cleared to wear the respirator initially and annually (or if a change in their physical condition that could affect respirator fit or change in respirator). The purpose of the fit test is to assure the respirator they use does not leak, under normal use and working conditions. There are two means of accomplishing respiratory fit testing. Northern Health & Fitness Plus provides OSHA accepted protocols and procedures in doing both qualitative and quantitative methods. (OSHA Standard 1910.134)
This method is subjective and provides a pass/fail result without using a numerical measurement. The respirator's facepiece-to-face seal is challenged with a substance detectable by the human senses, such as smell or taste. Agents used are Irritant smoke(Stannic Chloride) or Saccharin Solution.
The OHD Fit Tester 3000 is used which utilizes the patented Control Negative Pressure (CNP)technology which has been proven to be a much more reliable means of measuring respirator face seal leakage and to provide a much more rigorous test of respirator fit than non-validated counting techniques. The
individual is given a computerized printout with the measurements of the completed test.
A tool used in the diagnosis of lung disease. These tests can identify problems early in the course of disease and the progression of it. The person is asked to inhale fully and then blows out the air in his or her lungs through a tube as hard and fast and completely as possible. It measures the amount of air expelled and the speed at which the lungs can be emptied. The results are printed and brought back to the doctor to evaluate the measurements in evaluation of respiratory disease. (Satisfies the OSHA 1910.134 standard).
Determines the presence of ketones, blood, protein, and glucose indicating disease processes.
Aids in the determining the medical status of employees and the ability to perform his or her job requirements while wearing a respirator. Included in all Respiratory & Medical Clearance Evaluations.
